Toronto Jive Meets Classical: Matt Craig Plays Chopin on Belize Piano

Toronto Jive Meets Classical

Matt Craig Plays Chopin on Belize Street Piano,Toronto

All around Toronto for the past couple of weeks we’ve been seeing beautifully decorated pianos in landmark spots. They are part of the special artwork by a British Artist called Luke Jerram.

Between July 11th and July 31st, 41 pianos will be installed on the streets of Toronto, they are in celebration of the three-year countdown to the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

The 41 pianos represent the 41 countries participating in the TORONTO 2015 Games and each has been painted by an artist from the country it represents. They are quite spectacular and it is great to see people playing these pianos on Toronto streets.

So what does this have to do with Toronto modern jive?  Lots! Because our very own modern jive dance class teacher, Matt Craig, was featured featured in the Globe and Mail as he was playing on the Belize piano at Keorner Hall,  Bloor Street last week.
