Our fun modern jive dance routine last week featured some classy moves that will turn heads on any dance floor. The Beginner moves included The Hatchback, the Cleaver Cross, which is sometimes called the Butterfly and the Man’s Comb. Everyone liked this routine… and I was dancing lead thanks to Matt and Stephanie I could do the Cleaver Cross competently by the end of the class!

Oh my, what fun we had at our first Saturday Afternoon Modern Jive event! A whole dance floor to ourselves, we controlled the music so it was all modern jive music – and a great sound system – a short beginner dance lesson for the new people, and above all the opportunity to get in some real freestyle modern jive dancing. On April 6th we did some familiar modern jive dance moves, including the Secret Move Flick Spin and First Move.

One of the most wonderful things about teaching modern jive is seeing the progress of beginner dancers. It’s like they transform before your eyes from an unsure dancer to someone growing in confidence with every dance lesson they take.
